China’s Wang Xindi won gold in the men’s freestyle skiing aerials at Milano Cortina 2026, scoring 132.60 in the one-jump super final to secure China’s fourth gold medal.
China’s Wang Xindi claimed gold in the men’s freestyle skiing aerials final at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, scoring 132.60 points to deliver China’s fourth gold medal of the Games.
In the winner-takes-all super final, each athlete had just one jump. Wang, third to start, delivered a precise takeoff, tight aerial form and a clean landing. His triple backflip with five twists, carrying a degree of difficulty of 5.1, earned the highest score of the night.
Reigning world champion Noé Roth of Switzerland took silver with 131.58, while China’s Li Tianma secured bronze with 123.93. Chinese teammates Sun Jiaxu and defending Olympic champion Qi Guangpu finished fourth and sixth, respectively.
Third Olympics, First Gold
This was Wang’s third Winter Olympics. He had placed 14th in his previous two appearances.
This time, he stood on top of the podium.
With his victory, Wang and his wife Xu Mengtao became an Olympic champion couple. Two days earlier, Xu successfully defended her women’s aerials title. According to public records, they are the first married couple in Winter Olympic history to win gold medals in the same event at the same Games.
“Wait for the Day the Flowers Bloom”
“I’m grateful for every experience I’ve had,” Wang said after the final. “Those experiences taught me patience. You just need to wait quietly for the day the flowers bloom, then show your best self on the field and trust your team.”
He revealed that after becoming world champion spouses, winning Olympic gold together had long been a shared dream for him and Xu.
On Friday night in Livigno, that dream became reality.
