China’s Green Food Documentary Campaign Concludes Its European Tour

On September 13, the European outreach campaign for a feature-length documentary on China Green Food drew to a close with a final round of events in the university communities of Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam.

The campaign moved through the everyday spaces of university life, with events held in parks, streets, and squares frequented by students and faculty.

Into Europe’s University Communities

Five events unfolded in early September across locations closely tied to university life. In Paris, Parc Montsouris, beside the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris and frequented by Sorbonne Université students, opened and closed the series. Rue Mouffetard carried it into the Latin Quarter. Berlin’s Ernst-Reuter-Platz placed the campaign amid the Charlottenburg university district, between Technische Universität Berlin and Universität der Künste Berlin. In Amsterdam, it reached the campus square of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, a daily meeting place for students and staff.

At each stop, four elements anchored the experience: an agricultural soundscape, an interactive game decoding the Green Food logo, an educational viewing area, and an information exhibition. Together, they offered a preview of themes that the forthcoming documentary will examine in greater depth.

Field recordings from across rural China brought forests, streams, and farmland into headphones and directional speakers. An interactive game invited visitors to match the visual elements of the Green Food logo with cards explaining their meaning. The sun represents the natural environment and ecology, the leaf life and agriculture, and the bud protection and safety. Nearby, educational material played continuously, as multilingual staff answered questions and distributed further information.

The informal format allowed passers-by to stop and explore at their own pace. At Parc Montsouris, students lingered by the logo-decoding game, curious what the symbols meant. At the closing event, attention increasingly turned to the documentary itself, with visitors asking when and where it would air.

Twenty Events, Three Everyday Settings

The university series marked the final chapter of a wider European campaign comprising 20 events across three kinds of public setting: city parks, urban markets, and university campuses and their surrounding spaces.

Ten park events took place at Bois de Boulogne and Champ de Mars in Paris, Vondelpark in Amsterdam, Tiergarten in Berlin, and Montjuïc Park in Barcelona, drawing mainly local families. Five market events at Bastille Market and Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris and Albert Cuyp Market in Amsterdam reached shoppers and neighborhood residents, before the final five turned to students and faculty in Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam.

The common thread was proximity. Across lawns, market stalls, and campus squares, the campaign became part of the everyday cityscape, appearing in places where people already gathered, shopped, and studied.

Documentary Set for October Broadcast

The forthcoming documentary on China Green Food is now in production and is scheduled to air in October on CCTV-4, China Central Television’s international channel, reaching audiences in Europe and beyond. The film will trace the China Green Food system from the ecological conditions at its source to the quality controls that shape production. It will also look back on more than three decades of development, following the evolution of standardized practices and the building of the Green Food brand over time.
