China Holds Final Rehearsal For V-Day Parade

On August 24th Beijing completed the third comprehensive rehearsal for the upcoming V-Day parade.

Organisers said it was a full-process, full-element rehearsal that focused on testing the coordination between all processes and segments, hopefully laying a solid foundation for the success of the event. They added that all processes were organised in an orderly manner, with tight transitions and smooth operation, achieving the intended objectives.

This was the final rehearsal before the full military parade, which will take place on September 3rd.

Main Air Power and Golden Pilots

According to China’s media, the air echelons of the V-Day military parade will feature the Chinese military’s main air power for joint operations. A strong lineup of aircraft from the Army, Navy, and Air Force will fly over Tiananmen Square in Beijing at low altitude.

Notably,  new models of aircraft, which serve as the mainstay combat aircraft in active service with the Chinese military, represent cutting-edge capabilities and critical assets for high-end warfare. The collective appearance of these advanced equipment pieces will fully demonstrate the latest developments in the Chinese military’s high-tech weaponry.

Among the pilots set to participate in the parade are multiple winners of China’s “Golden Helmet” and “Gold Darts” awards.

Largest Band and Outstanding Performers

What’s more, the joint military band to participate in the V-Day military parade will be the largest of its kind in military parades.

Huang Yanhui, head of the joint military band of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), said that the band consists of more than 1,000 members, including ones from the military band of the PLA Guard of Honour and outstanding military music performers from other troops.

The 14 rows of the band symbolise the 14 years of the war, whereas the 80 salute buglers in the front signify the 80th anniversary of the war’s victory, said Huang.

During the parade, the band will play several classic tunes related to the war, as well as new music scores specifically created for the parade.
