ZXMOTO’s 500RR secures its first EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval certificate, marking a step toward entering the European market.
CNS reported on Aug. 12 that German independent testing, inspection and certification organisation TÜV Rheinland had recently held a ceremony in Chongqing to mark the awarding of an EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) certificate to Chongqing-based ZXMOTO.
With TÜV Rheinland’s support, ZXMOTO’s 500RR motorcycle received the WVTA certificate from Luxembourg’s vehicle certification authority, SNCH. It is the company’s first EU WVTA certificate.
The certification means the 500RR meets EU market-access requirements, allowing it to enter the markets of EU member states and other countries and regions that recognise WVTA certification.
Zhang Xue, founder of ZXMOTO, said Europe has a mature motorcycle culture and industry. Consumers there also have high expectations for vehicle performance, quality and riding experience.
The company hopes to offer European consumers motorcycles that combine performance, design and riding enjoyment. Meanwhile, it plans to expand its product range, develop overseas sales channels and service networks, and strengthen its global brand presence.
“Whole Vehicle Type Approval is a key market-access requirement for entering the EU market,” said Huang Yuxin, senior vice president of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Mobility. “It verifies that vehicles meet EU requirements for safety, environmental protection and production conformity.”
Huang added that Chinese motorcycle brands expanding overseas can leverage technical support from third-party organisations to build market trust more quickly. This can also support the development of overseas sales channels and long-term brand growth.
Currently, TÜV Rheinland is authorised by transport authorities in several European countries, including Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. In addition, the organisation provides technical services and support to Chinese automotive, motorcycle and component manufacturers seeking to enter European and other overseas markets.
