BIBF 2026 Highlights Growing UK-China Publishing Cooperation

The 32nd Beijing International Book Fair brings together over 1,700 exhibitors from 82 countries and regions, promoting copyright trade, publishing cooperation and cultural exchange.

The 32nd Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) opened on June 17th at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing, bringing together publishers, authors and industry professionals from around the world.

At the event, many Chinese publishing professionals visited UK publishers’ stands and held discussions on copyright licensing and publishing cooperation.

Held under the theme “Using Books as a Medium to Facilitate Communication and Dialogue, Leading to Cooperative Success for All Parties Involved,” this year’s fair has attracted more than 1,700 exhibitors from 82 countries and regions. Around 220,000 titles are on display, with over 1,100 overseas exhibitors participating.

As one of Asia’s leading publishing events, the fair serves as an important platform for international industry exchange, copyright trade and cross-cultural dialogue.

A representative of UK children’s publisher Nosy Crow (centre) introduced the company’s featured titles to Chinese visitors. The publisher produces the original editions of popular children’s series such as Pip and Posy and Bizzy Bear, which are well known among Chinese readers.
Chinese exhibitors visited the Oxford University Press stand to enquire about and discuss book rights cooperation.
Bloomsbury took part in the BIBF. The stand attracted exhibitors and visitors from China and abroad for meetings and visits.
Visitors browsed original foreign-language books at the Bloomsbury stand.
Visitors browsed books at the Harry Potter pop-up book exhibition. The display featured more than 120 Harry Potter titles and over 2,600 copies and boxed sets.
The Harry Potter pop-up store appeared at the BIBF. It attracted Chinese visitors with an immersive experience. The exhibition brought J.K. Rowling’s magical storytelling to life. It also showcased illustrations by artists such as Levi Pinfold and Karl James Mountford. Together, they created a rich and engaging experience for readers and fans.
