Echoes of China 2026 London Chinese New Year Concert

Echoes of China is a special Guzheng concert at the Royal Academy of Music, part of the “Happy Chinese New Year” programme by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China.

As part of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China’s global “Happy Chinese New Year 2026” programme, Echoes of China — World Tour of Master Chinese Zither Artists: London New Year Concert is initiated by renowned guzheng virtuoso Ms Su Chang, Associate Professor of the Central Conservatory of Music and recipient of China’s National High-Level Young Talent Programme.

Dedicated to the promotion of Chinese traditional music and driven by the vision of “Letting the world hear the voice of China”, this project presents the guzheng as a living cultural language that bridges tradition and contemporary global expression.

During the 2026 Spring Festival season, the guzheng will resonate in London。 This carefully curated concert showcases a brand-new repertoire and artistic configuration, offering a cultural gift from China to the world and presenting a contemporary interpretation of Chinese national music on an international stage. As well as performances from Su Chang, there will also be performances from Mengdie Ji (Melody Ji) and ChangXiang Guzheng Ensemble.

The concert will take place on Sunday, 8th February at Duke’s Hall, Royal Academy of Music, London.

Su Chang is a leading guzheng virtuoso, Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor at the Central Conservatory of Music, Director of the Plucked Strings Teaching & Research Division, and a recipient of the 2025 National Outstanding Young Talent Support Programme.

She was admitted with top honours to the Affiliated Secondary School of the Beijing Modern Music Academy, later earning her Bachelor’s degree from the Central Conservatory of Music and a Master’s degree from University College London (UCL).

Finally, the ChangXiang Guzheng Ensemble is composed of outstanding undergraduate and affiliated middle-school students from the Central Conservatory of Music. Ensemble members have won numerous major national and international awards. It was founded in 2017 by Su Chang.
