The Chinese Football Association launches a national esports team for football, set to compete in FIFA and AFC events.
On July 22, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) announced the launch of China’s national esports team for virtual football events. This move marks a significant step in merging traditional football with the rapidly growing world of esports.
The team will represent China in major international eFootball tournaments organized by FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and other global bodies. To support its preparation and participation, the CFA is now looking for qualified host regions to collaborate.
Candidate regions must meet specific criteria. Training and match venues need to follow technical standards, offering fast, stable internet and reliable power systems. These basic facilities must support smooth performance during both training and competitions. The CFA also values experience in managing esports events, including test matches and player selection tournaments.
In terms of services, host regions should provide full logistical support—transportation, accommodation, medical care, and media promotion. A dedicated team is expected to handle all aspects of event operations. Hosts will also cover costs such as venue rental, lodging, travel, security, and medical services. They will actively support the national esports team’s training and competition needs.
