Mosaic Secrets of Europe: Discover the Timeless Art in Beijing

The multimedia exhibition “Mosaic: The Code of Timeless Italian Art” recently opened in Beijing.

Using mosaic art as its central theme, the exhibition unfolds a cultural journey across Italy spanning 2000 years and traversing the entire country.

Since its global tour began in 2023, the exhibition has visited Chile, Mexico, Vietnam, Thailand, Brazil, Indonesia, the United States, South Korea and India. Now it has come to Beijing, China, to showcase the treasures of Italian mosaic art to the audience.

Through digital technology, this exhibit recreates the mosaic masterpiece of the “House of the Dioskouroi”.

The artwork is composed of thousands of tesserae, vividly depicting the awe-inspiring moment when Alexander the Great defeated King Darius III of Persia at the Battle of Issus.

Renata, a Russian visitor who had worked in Italy for a period of time, said, “I really love Italian paintings and art. I think there are so many exhibitions, museums and historical sites there, and I really miss it.”

The exhibition uses digital technology to showcase the floor mosaics of the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady.

Volunteer guides are explaining the exhibits.

All content is available in Italian, English, and Chinese, allowing visitors to enjoy the exhibition through audio guides.

Through digital presentation, this exhibition allows visitors to appreciate the precious mosaic art of the Underwater Archaeological Park of Baia without having to dive into the deep sea.
