From NBA star to CBA legend, former Beijing Shougang foreign player Marbury has started a new chapter in his life as a “Chinese son-in-law.” Recently, the 48-year-old Marbury posted a video on his social media, announcing his remarriage. He is now officially a Chinese son-in-law. His partner is 41-year-old Chinese singer Wang Yuling.
Marbury is one of the most successful foreign players in CBA history. He came to China in 2010, playing for Shanxi and Foshan teams before joining Beijing in 2011. At Beijing Shougang, Marbury achieved great success. He led the team to three championships in four years. He was named MVP of the regular season, All-Star game, and finals in the 2014-2015 season. Beijing fans raised funds to create a bronze statue of him, which is now outside the Wukesong Sports Center. On April 18, 2016, Marbury became the first foreign athlete to receive a Chinese “Permanent Residence Permit.” And he also became an honorary citizen of Beijing.

Marbury later played one more season with the Royal Fighters (Beikong) team. In February 2018, he retired and said he would stay in China to support the development of youth basketball.
Marbury’s marriage to Wang Yuling is his second. In 2023, he publicly announced his divorce from his first wife. The following year, he revealed in an interview that he was dating a Chinese girlfriend. However, at that time, he chose not to disclose her identity. According to public records, Wang Yuling was born in Wuhan, Hubei. She was previously a member of the Hubei provincial swimming team before transitioning into fashion design. After studying abroad, she graduated from the London College of Fashion.
Today, she works as a singer, musician, actress, and stylist. Additionally, Wang participated in the first season of The Voice of China in 2012. Sources say that Marbury first met her in 2023 at a pub in Beijing. While Wang was performing, Marbury was drinking beer in the audience. He immediately asked for her WeChat, remarking that her singing felt like a massage for his heart.
