China shines in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025, with Shanghai setting a record, Hong Kong securing seven spots, and Meet the Bund named Best in Mainland China.
The annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony occurred on March 25 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul, South Korea. This year’s list features restaurants from 16 cities, selected by a gender-balanced panel of 350 experts, including food writers, critics, chefs, restaurateurs, and regional culinary leaders. Bangkok’s Gaggan reclaimed the No.1 spot, marking its fifth time at the top after ranking No.3 last year.
Hong Kong Shines with Seven Entries
Hong Kong boasts seven entries on the list, led by The Chairman (No.2) and Wing (No.3). Five other restaurants also secured spots:
➤Estro (No.32) – debut entry
➤Caprice (No.18) – up 14 places
➤Neighborhood (No.21)
➤Mono (No.24)
➤Ando (No.41)
Shanghai Achieves Record-High
Shanghai had a strong showing with four restaurants making the list—its highest number ever:
➤Meet the Bund (No.14) – up 36 places, becoming the Best Restaurant in Mainland China.
➤Fu He Hui (No.15)
➤Ling Long (No.27) – up 9 places
➤102 House (No.29)
It is worth mentioning that Beijing’s Lamdre made her debut on the list at No. 50, and Chef Tam’s Seasons in Macau has risen sharply to 9th place and won the Highest Climber Award 2025.

Several new entries from Hong Kong and mainland China were included in the extended rankings:
➤Hong Kong:
Testina (No.60)
Feuille (No.93)
Other Hong Kong entries: Vea (No.53), Xin Rong Ji (No.56), Ta Vie (No.64), 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana (No.94).
➤Mainland China:
Ru Yuan (No.59, Hangzhou) – reinterprets Zhejiang cuisine with modern techniques.
La Bourriche 133 (No.96, Shanghai) – blends French, Basque, and Italian seafood traditions.
Other mainland China entries: Xin Rong Ji (Xinyuan South Road) (No.73), Xin Rong Ji (Nanyang Road) (No.82), and Ensue (No.85).
The Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list continues to highlight the region’s culinary excellence and innovation, with diverse flavors and rising stars shaping the future of dining.
