World snooker No.1 Judd Trump has become a Hong Kong resident through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, HK official announced on Dec. 24th.
Trump arrived in Hong Kong on Dec. 23rd to collect his identity card. Born in 1989, Judd Trump is an English professional snooker player. He recently claimed his second UK Championship title.
Another famous English snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan has also taken Hong Kong residency under the scheme in October this year.
Born in 1975, O’Sullivan is one of the most talented and accomplished players in snooker history. He has won the World Snooker Championship seven times, a modern-era record he holds jointly with Stephen Hendry.
Increasingly Attractive to Talents
HK launched the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme in June 2006, aiming to attract highly skilled talents or outstanding individuals to settle in the city. The annual quota was 4,000 in 2021.
By the end of 2021, 36,689 applications from nearly 100 countries or regions had been received, among which 9,131 applications were approved.
Hong Kong is increasingly attractive to talents. The Quality Migrant Admission Scheme is one of five schemes that HKSAR launched to attract overseas talents. A total of 30,946 overseas talents have been admitted to Hong Kong for employment through the five talent admission schemes from 2020 to 2021.
