UK Director David Yates Serves as 15th BJIFF Juror, Thanks Chinese Fans

On Apr 20, the 15th Beijing International Film Festival (15th BJIFF) held a jurors’ press meet-and-greet at Beijing. David Yates and other members of the Tiantan Award International Jury attended the event. (All images by Jiaming Li)
David Yates said he was especially thankful to Chinese fans for their love for the Harry Potter series. He noted that during the recent judging work, he was surprised and impressed by the imagination displayed in Chinese films.
At the 15th BJIFF opening ceremony red carpet on the 18th, David Yates was asked about the opportunities and challenges for the international film industry in relation to Chinese cinema. He stated, “We are all human beings, sharing the same emotions. Whether it’s fantasy or reality, the key to cinema is authenticity. As long as it’s expressed sincerely, people will understand.”
The 15th Beijing International Film Festival (15th BJIFF) is held in Beijing from Apr 18 to 26, 2025. The photo shows fans taking photos in front of the sculptural landmark.
