IShowSpeed China tour saw the American streamer travel across China breaking down barriers, but where did IShowSpeed go in China?
Amid the recent “China Travel” craze, more foreign influencers are heading to China. Among them, 20-year-old American streamer IShowSpeed stands out. IShowSpeed’s real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr, and he has millions of followers on YouTube and Instagram who follow his streams in America and on tours around the world. For his most recent China tour, IShowSpeed landed in China on March 24th, sparking global buzz as he took a chaotic trip across the country. Along the way he broke misconceptions about China, was impressed by a flying car, and met the now world famous Unc from Rongchang.
Spot 1: IShowSpeed Shanghai (March 24-26)
IShowSpeed kicked off his journey in Shanghai, a major financial hub and the largest city in China. On March 24th, he live-streamed for over six hours, capturing the city’s skyline and energy. A local guide joined him as he explored famous landmarks. He also rode in a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra-China’s electric supercar with 1,526 horsepower.
“This car faster than my Huracan? This car is faster than my Lamborghini? But it’s electric,” he said during the stream in shock.
Spot 2: IShowSpeed Beijing (March 26-28)
Next, Speed headed to Beijing, the capital of China and home to some of the countries most famous landmarks. Wearing a suit with a Northeast-style print, he visited landmarks like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
He also tried tanghulu, a traditional candied fruit snack, and reacted to its sweet-sour punch. On a high-speed train he marveled at the strong Wi-Fi, even in tunnels, claiming that China has the best internet he’s experienced.

Spot 3: IShowSpeed Dengfeng, Henan (March 28-29)
“My favorite stream is the monk stream,” he said during a recent YouTube live about his China tour. In Dengfeng, the home of Shaolin kung fu, he trained with master Liang Xiaolong. Speed opted for a bald cap and robes to complete his look while learning the basics of kung fu. Viewers praised Liang in the comments, calling him “kind,” “humble,” and “a real master.”
Recreating scenes from Karate Kid and trying out martial arts, Speed was clearly having the time of his life.
Spot 4: IShowSpeed Chengdu, Sichuan (March 30-April 1)
In Chengdu, Speed went full panda, literally, by putting on face paint. He tried acupuncture and got spooked (in a good way) by Sichuan Opera’s fiery stunts. That stream drew 8 million viewers, while short clips racked up over 10 million views.
Chengdu is the home of China’s panda. It is also famous for its Opera and fiery hot pot.

Spot 5: I ShowSpeed Chongqing (April 2-3)
Chongqing’s layered skyline and dramatic hills amazed him. He rode the famous monorail through a building at Liziba Station and took the 112-meter Crown Grand Escalator. Despite being wowed by Chongqing’s dramatic skyline, he even found time for a quick haircut at a local shop. His stream gained 450,000+ views within 15 hours.
Chongqing is sometimes referred to as an 8D city or a cyberpunk city. This is due to its futuristic transport and bright lights. Built alongside a river surrounded by mountains, you can enter one building on the ground floor go down several floors and then leave still on the ground floor!
Spot 6: I ShowSpeed Hong Kong (April 4)
In Hong Kong, his presence stirred excitement. Crowds filled the MTR, and fans gathered during a tram ride, sharing laughs and warm greetings. In HongKong he saw pandas at Ocean Park, rode a tram in Sheung Wan, and bought snacks on Temple Street. During the stream he celebrated hitting 38 million YouTube subscribers in Hong Kong.

Spot 7: IShowSpeed Shenzhen (April 5)
In Shenzhen, Speed visited OCT Harbour and took a ride in a floating BYD U8. As the car glided across water, he shouted, “Oh my God! The Chinese car got it!” Later, at a Huawei flagship store, he saw a tri-fold phone and immediately bought three. He unboxed them on-camera just moments later. At Shenzhen Talent Park, a drone delivered his KFC meal via a drone. Watching the high-speed drop-off, he declared, “China is different!” Also in Shenzhen IShowSpeed tried a flying car. Not actually a car, it is the EHang EH216-S a fully electric and autonomous flying vehicle.
Not just in Shenzhen, but throughout the streams across China speed was impressed by the high tech China had to offer.
Spot 8: IShowSpeed Changsha (April 6-7)
IShowSpeed Changsha stream wrapped up his China tour. There, he met Wowkie Zhang, creator of the viral “Nae Nae” song Sunshine, Rainbow, White Pony. The duo linked up at a Hunan TV studio and performed the hit together. Speed, who had previously gone viral reacting to the song, couldn’t hide his excitement. He also tasted Changsha’s spicy cuisine, including chopped pepper fish head and Latiao. Though the heat brought tears, he kept eating. “This is fire!” he said with a thumbs-up.
Changsha is a modern city with a stunning skyline and millions of residents. However, it also has a long history being inhabited for thousands of years.
IShowSpeed Changsha stream ended his journey in China, closing his remarkable two weeks journey.
