China exported more than 10 million robots in the first five months of the year, with smart cleaning robots leading shipments to over 150 countries.
Chinese-made robots are reaching more countries around the world as overseas shipments continue to grow.
Customs data show China exported 10.377 million robots in the first five months of this year, with shipments valued at 19.99 billion yuan (about £2.05 billion). The products reached more than 150 countries and regions, while the European Union and ASEAN remained the leading export destinations.
Smart cleaning robots remained China’s biggest robot export category.
Their exports totalled 14 billion yuan (about £1.43 billion), accounting for more than 70 per cent of the country’s total robot export value.
These robots feature technologies such as autonomous navigation, automatic dust collection and intelligent water recycling systems. They are designed to suit different living environments in overseas markets.
Meanwhile, Chinese industrial robots found wider applications overseas.
China exported about 70,000 industrial robots during the first five months of the year.
Material-handling robots equipped with vision recognition and intelligent algorithms are widely used in overseas infrastructure and transport projects. Welding robots can automatically scan and build models before determining the optimal welding process. Collaborative robots are also finding applications in food processing, pharmaceuticals and daily consumer goods manufacturing.
Beyond industrial use, exports of intelligent bionic robots also increased.
More than 8,000 units were exported during the first five months of the year. They are used in equipment inspection, scientific research, education and public services.
China’s robot exports continue to expand in both scale and product variety, backed by the country’s well-developed industrial supply chain.
