Lutes From the Silk Road Concert to be Held in London

Lutes From the Silk Road concert and workshop on May 10th set to bring alive the Silk Road through music. 

London Lutes Ensemble will give a special concert with a free workshop on Saturday, May 10th.

The performance will be held at London’s beautiful Dutch Church in the City of London.

Following the success of the lutes project supported by Arts Council of England and at SOAS, University of London in July 2024, this unique lutes group has been invited by the Lute Society to present this unique project. For this performance, it will feature traditional and improvisatory music from China, Central Asia and the Middle East. Entitled “Lutes from the silk road” -the performance brings together luted from China to Central Asia, and from the Middle East to the West. The featured musicians include:

Pipa/Ruan (China) – Cheng Yu
Rawap & Dutar (Uyghur) – Sohret Nur
Dombra (Kazakh) – Sabine Masters
Bagalma/Saz (Turkey) – Ahmet Ozan Baysal
Oud (Middle East) – Nick Kabanas
Theorbo (Europea) – Johan Lofving
Percussion instruments – Antonio Romero
