Chinese Police Bring “Lucky Numbers” to Gaokao Students

Chinese police officers use badge numbers “985” and “211” to support and encourage students during the 2025 Gaokao exams.

Started from June 7, millions of Chinese students took the 2025 Gaokao exam. This is the country’s toughest college entrance test. Police officers in several cities added a special touch to support them.

In Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hefei, Changsha, and Jinzhong, officers with badge numbers ending in “985” and “211” caught people’s attention. These numbers represent China’s top universities. They come from the famous “985” and “211” projects.

Families lined up to take photos with these officers. Many hoped to bring good luck to their children. One parent said, “Such lucky numbers! I hope my child gets into a 985 university.”

In Changsha, the traffic police parked a car with a “985” plate near the exam site. An officer wearing the “211” badge stood nearby. This was planned to encourage students and cheer them on.

The police did more than give blessings. They managed traffic and assisted students with emergencies, while also maintaining a safe and quiet exam area.

This creative support has impressed many online. People called it “unique” and “heartfelt.”

As students pursue their dreams, police stand by their side. They offer safety, help, and hope. This shows the human side of China’s high-stakes exam day.
