BBC’s ‘Inside No. 9’ Stage Adaption Performed in Beijing

BBC’s Inside No. 9 has received an interactive theatre adaption in Beijing.

A new immersive theatre adaptation drama of BBC’s Inside No. 9 has been staged in Beijing on Dec. 4, attracting many viewers to “go inside” the stories in the theatre.

Last year, the immersive theatre adaptation drama of Inside No. 9 landed in Shanghai, which achieved both box office successes and strong reviews. This year, with new adaptations of Season 8 Episode 2 Mother’s Ruin, and Season 4 Episode 3 Once Removed, audiences can feel the original taste of this British IP again.

To make improvements from Shanghai’s version this performance included the exploration of suspense, an upgraded design of the stage, and the usage of sound and photoelectric technology.

For audience members who can afford to pay a little more, they can sit in the VIP seats. These are separated from the normal seats and are closer to the stage allowing more immersion into the story.

Opening on December 4th, the performance will have a limited run in Beijing.

Inside No. 9 was a black comedy anthology series that aired from 2014 to 2024 on BBC. It was a sleeper hit in China, with the eighth season alone having more hen 20 million views on the Chinese streaming platform Bilibili.
