New Chinese Carmaker LEPAS Announces Expansion into UK

New Chinese car brand LEPAS is to debut in the UK in late 2026 with first dealership partnerships appointed.

LEPAS is a design-led, new energy vehicle brand from carmaker Chery International.

Carmaker LEPAS has appointed its first UK dealer partners, with more than 20 leading retail groups set to open 42 outlets across the UK in the coming months.

They plan to follow these initial openings with an expansion to up to 90 dealerships.

This announcement comes as LEPAS prepares for the launch of its first model in the UK, the LEPAS L8 SUV, later this year. It is a large five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV. This will be followed by the LEPAS L6 mid-size SUV and city-friendly LEPAS L4 SUV. Across the range, all LEPAS models will be electrified: hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric.

Ray Wang, Managing Director of LEPAS UK, said: “This is a very special moment for LEPAS in the UK.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that the LEPAS ownership experience is exceptional for every customer and so we are carefully curating our network so customer care always remains at its very heart.”

He added: “The fact that our first tranche of dealer partners includes some of the largest and best-known names in automotive retail underlines the excitement and confidence the industry has in LEPAS and the range of exciting models we will be rolling out.”

LEPAS announced that among the first to open outlets will be some of the most trusted and recognisable names in UK automotive retail, with no fewer than 10 featured in the AM100 – the list of the UK’s largest franchised dealer groups – including Arnold Clark, Allen Motor Group, Parks, Brindley, Cars2 and Peoples.

Between them, they will have dealerships from the highlands of Scotland to the south coast of England.

LEPAS is specifically designed by Cherry International for the European market. It is the fourth Cherry International brand to launch in the UK, following the launch of OMODA UK in August 2024, JAECOO UK in January 2025, and CHERY UK in the summer of 2025.
