Chinese Garden Products Attract European Buyers at Canton Fair

Chinese garden products, from preserved flowers to indoor growing systems, attract European buyers at the 140th Canton Fair.

Preserved flowers, compact indoor gardening systems and wooden rabbit hutches were among the products attracting overseas buyers at the second phase of the 140th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair. Held under the theme of “Quality Home”, the exhibition brought together Chinese suppliers of garden and home products looking to expand overseas.

At the booth of Yunnan Airui Floral Science and Technology Co., Ltd., European buyers placed orders after viewing preserved peonies, tree peonies, orchids and sunflowers. The company uses real flowers and applies preservation techniques to extend their display life. Under suitable indoor conditions, the flowers can be enjoyed for long periods without watering.

Vincent O’Sullivan, a British buyer attending the fair for the first time, said the products suited European demand for gifts and home decoration, thanks to their detailed craftsmanship and long-lasting appearance.

The company’s products are now sold in more than 50 countries and regions. Its overseas sales rose by around 50 per cent year on year in the first half of 2026. At this year’s fair, the company also reported purchase intentions from buyers in Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. Its brand HFlora launched new products during the fair through a presentation linked to a Nasdaq screen in Times Square, New York.

Growing Interest in Home Gardening

Beyond decorative flowers, Chinese exhibitors also showcased products designed for growing plants at home.

At the booth of Shenzhen Kenong Gardening Technology Co., Ltd, a compact, white cylindrical growing system attracted interest from overseas buyers. Its modular design allows users to stack units and grow herbs and vegetables while making efficient use of space.

The company is developing desktop and floor-standing models and exploring ways to combine artificial intelligence (AI) with soilless cultivation and smart gardening. It also reported purchase intentions from buyers in Europe and the Americas during the fair.

Practical Design for Overseas Markets

Wooden garden products were another draw at the exhibition. At the booth of Dalian Rongshen Garden Household Products Co., Ltd, buyers examined a range of wooden gardening items, with some using their phones to livestream products from the booth.

One of the products was a two-tone rabbit hutch combining wood with protective metal mesh. Its design balances appearance and practicality, while its knock-down structure makes it easier to transport and assemble.

The company exports to more than 30 countries, including Germany and France. Around 90 per cent of its orders come from overseas markets. At the fair, buyers from New Zealand and Chile also approached the company to discuss potential cooperation.

Canadian buyer Dhamarajsinh said he planned to purchase Chinese garden products and hoped to build long-term relationships with more Chinese suppliers to expand his business in Canada.
