Shopping for A Robot? World’s First Robot 4S Store Opens in Beijing

The world’s first 4S robot store will officially open on Aug 8th in Beijing, dedicated to embodied artificial intelligence (AI) robots.

Beijing is set to launch the world’s first 4S humanoid robot store on Aug 8th. Named Robot Mall, the move marks the latest push to commercialize advanced robotics in China.

The 4S store is located in a robotics industrial park in Yizhuang, southern Beijing.

In China, 4S means the store will offer sales, service, spare parts, and surveys (collecting and analysing customer feedback). This store model has become common in China’s sutomobile industry and other sectors.

The facility will feature an area for scenario-based demonstrations and immersive interactions, offering customers a hands-on experience with the product capabilities in real-life settings.

Highlights include dancing robotic dogs in lion dance costumes, humanoid robots capable of traditional Chinese medicine dispensing, and machines that can flip pancakes, brew coffee, shoot basketballs, paint, and even overcome obstacle courses.

The Robot Mall brings more than 50 robot models from over 40 manufacturers across China. “This is a national showcase for humanoid robots,” said Wang Yifan, the store manager.

China Remains World’s Top Robot Manufacturer

The 4S store will debut alongside the 2025 World Robot Conference, which runs from Aug. 8th to 12th. The event will showcase over 1,500 products from more than 200 leading robotics companies from around the world.

Thanks to advancements in AI technologies, China’s robotics industry is undergoing a rapid transformation from laboratory research to mass production.

A market boom will emerge in the industry in the coming years. According to the Chinese Institute of Electronics, China’s humanoid robot market is projected to reach 870 billion yuan by 2030.

In 2024, China accounted for two-thirds of global robot patent applications and produced 556,000 industrial robots, remaining the world’s top manufacturer.

Adjacent to the 4S store, a robot-themed restaurant will also open on Aug 8th, offering a fully automated, AI-driven dining and retail experience. Marketed as a “fantasy experience,” the venue immerses guests in a futuristic world.
