Mountain Gift Pop-Up

From the 18th November you can visit a Christmas pop-up shop dedicated to crafts, gifts, and objects from southwestern China. Organised by a collection of small London-based business relating to southwestern China, they include Yi Crafts which run craft workshops based on traditional handcrafts of Chinese ethnic minority groups and YUN Cross Bridge Rice Noodles.

British Library × Yuewen: Literature in the Digital Age

To celebrate a three year partnership between the British Library and Yuewen, this free panel discussion on Literature in the digital age is being held at the British Library. Yuewen is a leading company in China’s massive online literature market.

The Silk Road exhibition at the British Museum opened in September, and his worth the visit to learn about the multitude of trade routes that connected to make the silk roads. If you want to learn more before you go, read our article on the exhibition.

World Travel Market

Running for 44 years, the World Travel Market is supposedly the “most influential 3 days it is possible to have in the travel industry.”

Unsurprisingly, China will have a major presence at the World Travel Market in London.

The Stone God Opera

The Stone God opera brings Chongqing to London in retelling of Hong Ying’s book. Telling the story of life in the old city of Chongqing, ‘The Stone God’ opera based on the book by Hong Ying will be performed at Bloomsbury Theatre in London from 1st – 3rd November.

The Flat Earth Exhibition

Vivien Zhang showcases her latest work at a new exhibition using the natural world to explore her experiences of migration. Vivien Zhang is a Chinese-born artist who lives and works in London. She moved to the UK in 2008 after spending time in Africa and Thailand.

Qi Yang Exhibition

From 29th October to 4th November, the works of Chinese artist Qi Yang will be on display at Sotheby’s Wemyss Gallery. The exhibition of Qi Yang’s work showcases his blend of Zen philosophy with German Expressionism. The German-Chinese artist has gained international acclaim for blending his artistic vision with philosophical influences from China.

Souls Left Behind Book Talk

An online book talk hosted by Guanghwa Bookshop about the Chinese Labour Corps in WW1. The perfect China-related event to attend during the month of Remembrance Day. As we reported Guanghwa, the UK’s only brick and mortar Chinese bookshop risks closing due to a massive rent increase. So do support them!
