Xinjiang discovers another 1,000-ton daily output oil well

China has discovered a new oil well with a daily output of 1,000 ton of oil and gas equivalent in the Tarim Basin of northwestern Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, according to China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the country's largest oil and gas producer, on Tuesday.

Adding to the existing seven, the newly discovered Manshen 3-H7 oil well has a daily output of 987 cubic meters of crude oil and 390,000 cubic meters of gas.

The Fuman Oilfield, where the well is situated, is the main block for crude oil production in the Tarim Oilfield. It has produced more than 7 million metric tons of oil since 2014, representing the largest oilfield with the best benefit built in China within a depth of 7,500 meters.

Covering over a 10,000-square-kilometer area in the heart of the Taklimakan Desert, the Fuman Oilfield contains more than 1 billion metric tons of oil and gas resources.

The Tarim Oilfield has 19 large and medium-sized gas fields that supply about 31.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, accounting for one-sixth of the national total, according to CNPC.
