The flood control and drought relief headquarters of Shandong activated a level-IV emergency response on Oct. 1 as the water level of the Yellow River in the province approached the warning line. 

Drought and lack of rain in the upper reaches of the Yellow River slowed the river's flow and turned the water green.

The Weimin Yellow River Bridge was put into use on Monday. It is the 18th road bridge across the Yellow River in Ningxia. 

With the main structure of its three towers being completed recently, the 6,683-meter-long self-anchored suspension bridge is expected to open to traffic at the end of 2021.
