Leading Chinese epidemiologist Zhang Boli has noted that China's dynamic zero-COVID approach does not mean "absolute zero-COVID," while highlighting the role of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in treating COVID-19.

Construction of the innovative TCM center and joint laboratory came after a development plan for TCM was issued by Guangdong authorities in early 2020.

The integration of traditional Chinese medicine with the treatment of COVID-19 has proved effective and won popularity among patients during the current outbreak in Shanghai, authorities said.

More than 300 sets of exhibits, including ancient tortoise shells, medical operation tools, prescriptions, medical books dating back to the second millennium BC, were showcased at the exhibition.

Xi first visited a memorial facility dedicated to Zhang Zhongjing, a famous Chinese pharmacologist and physician of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Xi learned about Zhang's life story and his contributions to the development of traditional Chinese medicine.
