Huawei Technologies Co's self-developed operating system HarmonyOS is expected to see wider application in China, as it made progress in optimizing the system's performance, but more efforts are needed to build a robust software ecosystem for it, experts said on Thursday.
In the first five months of the year, China's mobile phone shipments dropped 27.1 percent year on year to 108 million units, of which 79.7 percent were 5G phones.
More efforts will also be made to encourage the private sector's participation in the research and development of Beidou applications and technologies, cultivate a group of leading enterprises and create a batch of globally competitive industrial clusters.
According to Huawei, Harmony-OS for Mining is already being used to offer miners' safety assistance, support robot inspection, and other areas in several mines of China Energy Investment Corp.
Xiaomi's performance was bolstered by the launch of the Mi Smart Band 6, despite India, one of Xiaomi's strongholds, not being on the initial global launch list. Huawei hung on to third place, mostly relying on China to stay afloat.
