20th of March marks the spring equinox, or Chunfen in Chinese, the fourth solar term in the Chinese lunar calendar, this year. After the spring equinox, the days get longer, the weather becomes warmer and plants start to grow fast.
The plants, including 1,000 Myricaria laxiflora and 2,000 Plantago fengdouensis, are endemic to the Yangtze River and have been reintroduced into their historical distribution areas through artificial breeding efforts.
