The domestic COVID-19 epidemic is at a low level and influenza infections are falling, but multiple respiratory viruses will continue to circulate during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, health officials said on 4th of Feb.
According to workers at Beijing subway stations, a notice recently sent to them has shown that there are no more mandatory requirements for passengers to wear masks, The Beijing News reported.
Mask use will still be required for individuals who have tested positive or are experiencing fever, coughing and other telltale symptoms, and those whose residential places or communities are seeing outbreaks.
Chinese health experts suggest relaxing mandatory mask wearing in public except for elderly care centers and other high-risk facilities as the global COVID-19 pandemic is nearing an end and domestic flu infections are declining.
The Shandong University welcomed the first group of returning students after the epidemic outbreak.
