The latest figures have revealed a significant increase in the number of foreign visitors to various Chinese cities in recent months, as a result of more tailored measures provided to facilitate the entry and stay of visa-exempt foreigners.
The recently released guide to further improve foreigners' payment experiences in China is not only part of the country's continued opening-up but is also conducive to the internationalization of its financial sector, said experts.
The guide highlights that no IDs are required for transactions under a certain amount when foreign visitors use mobile payment services such as Alipay, Weixin Pay and UnionPay, and some international e-wallets are accepted by merchants in China.
Self-services such as checking personal information at railway station's turnstiles and checking in and checking out of the station will also be available to these holders, according to the company's release.
A new version of the Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card will be officially launched and issued on Dec 1, incorporating new technology for better personal information protection and wider application scenarios, the National Immigration Administration said on Friday.
