Hainan Spring Festival holiday high-end tourism products were popular

During the Spring Festival holiday, in the context of a slight year-on-year decline in the number of domestic tourists and tourism revenue, Hainan tourism was popular, and high-end tourism products were highly favoured.

Official data released by Hainan Province on the evening of February 7 showed that during the Spring Festival holiday, the number of tourists received in Hainan has recovered to 92% of the same period in 2019 before the outbreak. Sanya's tourist reception volume has been higher than the same period in 2019.

Off-island duty-free shopping is the "golden sign" of Hainan tourism. According to data released by Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce, the total sales of 10 off-island duty-free shops during the Spring Festival holiday totaled 2.131 billion yuan, up 151% year on year.

The high-end hotel market was booming. The average occupancy rate of tourist hotels in Hainan during the Spring Festival was about 72%, and the average occupancy rate of hotels in Yalong Bay and Haitang Bay, where high-end hotels in Sanya gathered, exceeded 90%, showing the strong demand for high-quality holiday products in the holiday market.

Yachting congestion in Sanya has become a landscape. Statistics from the Sanya Yachting and Sailing Association showed that over 5,500 yachts sailed to sea during the Spring Festival holiday, with a total of 39,600 people went to sea. Zuo Zhiyong, deputy secretary-general of the association, said that before the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, Sanya's yacht business schedule was fully booked.

High-end amusement projects were popular among young people. Huang Weidong, marketing director of Wuzhizhou Island Scenic Spot in Sanya, said that the proportion of young tourists who like novel water sports is increasing, and the scenic spot's star product, wake surfing, was fully booked every day during the holiday.

During the Spring Festival holiday, the number of inbound and outbound passengers at the three major airports in Hainan Island increased by 46.96% compared with the same period in 2021. Sanya Phoenix International Airport predicts that it will still be the peak period of outbound passenger flow until February 15.
