More than 20 overseas Chinese media from 18 countries and regions will conduct in-depth interviews and reports on Yangtze River ecological and environmental protection, characteristic humanities, industrial economy, tourism resources, and rural revitalization in Chongqing to help the city play its role in promoting the green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt demonstration role.

The overseas Chinese media delegation’s one-week tour includes Zhong County, Fengjie County, Wushan County, and Liangjiang New District in Chongqing.

Zhang Lei, deputy editor-in-chief of China News Agency, said at the launching ceremony that Chongqing is increasingly becoming a highlight of the world’s attention. Since 2015, the Walking in China Tour event has been successfully held for five sessions.

Fully demonstrating the new outlook of construction, development, reform, and opening-up in Chongqing, thousands of live pictures, news stories, newspapers and magazines, and media releases were presented worldwide. According to Zhang, over 70 overseas Chinese media leaders from 41 countries and regions visited Chongqing on the spot.

“Protecting the ecological environment of the Yangtze River is the call of the times, and it also serves as a major historic mission,” said Zhang. “We hope the visiting overseas Chinese media will show and present the wonderful side of Chongqing, the beautiful Yangtze River, and the real China to the world through their observation and experience, with their pen and lens, during their stay in Chongqing.”

Shang Yong, the editor-in-chief of Russian Dragon, thinks Chongqing is full of charm, and the magical and magnificent Three Gorges of the Yangtze River is well-known in the world, making all overseas Chinese dreams.

“During the visit to Chongqing, I aim to introduce a vivid and colorful side of Chongqing to the world,” said Shang. “We will bring the wonderful stories of Chongqing and the Yangtze River to our Chinese friends all over the world and people all over the world.”

The past themes reported on Chongqing, organized by the Walking in China Tour, were rich and varied, including Chongqing City Development and Construction, Chongqing-ASEAN International Logistics Channel Construction, Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe International Railway Intermodal Transportation Channel Construction, Inland Open Highland Construction, Smart Manufacturing, and Smart China Expo.

In addition to Chongqing, their footprints have covered Tibet, Xinjiang, Shanghai, Jiangxi, Henan, Hainan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Shandong, and other places in China. This has made useful and active explorations in serving local economic and social development, telling interesting stories about Chinese people, and promoting Chinese and foreign news for more cultural exchanges.
