Chinese mainland reports 2 new COVID-19 cases, both from overseas

The Chinese mainland registered two new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, both from overseas, the country's health authorities said on Wednesday.

This is the 24th consecutive day without domestic transmissions on the Chinese mainland.

No deaths from the disease were reported on the mainland on Tuesday while 12 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed cases stands at 85,146 and the death toll at 4,634, with 308 asymptomatic patients under medical observation.

The total confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 4,895 (4,543 recoveries, 99 deaths)

Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 495 (475 recoveries, 7 deaths)
