China's COVID-19 experience-based book hits Nepal's market

"The book is a guidance for the countries that are still in radar of risk of the virus. In Nepal's case, it can help even in the governmental level to prepare the strategy to contain the spread and get rid of the problem," said Ishwar Pokharel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense of Nepal.

"Wuhan in Coronavirus Lockdown: Stories of Courage and Determination", a book recording firsthand experience of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in China, has been published in Nepali language and hit the market Monday in Nepal.

Ishwar Pokharel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense of Nepal in the foreword of the book mentioned that countries like Nepal can make use of the measures China has embraced to control the pandemic.

According to Dhakal, the book is a must for professionals and people including doctors, security personals and lawmakers who are directly working for COVID-19 control mechanism of the state.

"The book shows how acting fast and efficiently helped take control of the virus and it can be handy for learning and for an inspiration to fight against the crisis," he said, "The book is a guidance for the countries that are still in radar of risk of the virus. In Nepal's case, it can help even in the governmental level to prepare the strategy to contain the spread and get rid of the problem."

According to Makalu Publication House, the publisher of the book, copies of the books were gifted to Nepal's president, prime minister, deputy-prime minister and Chinese ambassador to Nepal on Monday afternoon.

"We could not organize an official launch because of the lockdown the government has enforced in Nepal but it will be available in our counter located at Kalikasthan, Kathmandu at all times," said Basudev Dhakal, managing director at Makalu Publication House.

"A total of 1,000 copies have been published and we plan to increase the number as per the demand in the market."

Wuhan, a city in China's central Hubei province, was locked down for more than two months. The lockdown was recently lifted in the area following considerable improvement in the risk management aspect. "During the last 2.5 months, exceptional measures were taken by the Chinese government and we can all learn from them through this book," Dhakal told Xinhua.
