China slams U.S. plan to delete TikTok app from government agencies

"We firmly oppose the wrong actions of the United States for over-stretching the concept of national security and abusing state power to suppress foreign companies, said Chinese spokesperson Mao Ning when responding to a report that the White House gave government agencies 30 days to delete TikTok from all federal devices

"How unsure of itself can the world's top superpower be to fear a young people’s favorite app like that? " Mao asked at a press conference on Tuesday.

"The U.S. government should respect the principles of market economy and fair competition, stop suppressing the companies and provide an open, fair and non-discriminatory environment for foreign companies in the U.S.," she added.
