China-Europe freight trains on eastern corridor hit record high

The inbound and outbound China-Europe freight trains operated by two ports in northeast China's Heilongjiang have reached 4,554 with 436,632 TEUs of goods transported as of Friday, setting a new record on the eastern corridor, according to China Railway Harbin Group.

Among them, 4,043 trains and 389,940 TEUs have been launched by the Manzhouli Port, a year-on-year increase of 17.9 percent and 24.4 percent respectively, and 511 trains and 46,692 TEUs have been sent through the Suifenhe Port, a year-on-year increase of 142.2 percent and 151 percent respectively.

More than 4,500 trains operated on the eastern corridor this year, 698 more trains than that of last year, up 25.1 percent and 31.5 percent year on year respectively.

The Manzhouli Port, the largest mainland land border port in China, bears nearly one third of China's inbound and outbound China-Europe freight trains. Currently, more than 300 trains have been launched monthly for nine consecutive months by this port, totaling the number over 4,000 this year.

China-Europe freight trains launched by the Suifenhe Port, the largest port to Russia in Heilongjiang, have seen a two-digit year-on-year increase for 11 consecutive months, setting a new record of 67 running in a single month in August.

Since its opening in 2018, the number of trains operated by this port has increased year by year and exceeded 500 this year, surpassing the total number of the past three years.
