China approves new secretaries for five HK bureaus
On Wednesday, China's State Council appointed five new secretaries for five bureaus of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government.
The State Council approved Patrick Nip as secretary of the Civil Service Bureau, Caspar Tsui as head of the Home Affairs Bureau, and Erick Tsang as head of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau. The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and the Innovation and Technology Bureau also underwent a leadership reshuffle.
The decision was made in accordance with the HKSAR Basic Law and based on the nomination and suggestion of HKSAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
