Blue alert for rainstorms stays for parts of China
China's national observatory on Sunday renewed a blue alert for rainstorms in parts of the country from now to Monday night.
Until 8 p.m. Monday, heavy rain and rainstorms are expected to hit some areas in Guizhou, Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Gansu, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia and Tibet autonomous regions, the National Meteorological Center said.
Some regions will see up to 200 mm of downpours within 24 hours, with certain parts expecting sporadic thunderstorms and gales.
The center advised local governments to take precautions and recommended outdoor operations be halted in hazardous areas.
China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
