China leads the world in AI adoption, not just in numbers, but also in mindset, KPMG report shows.
A new report by KPMG reveals that 93% of Chinese professionals are using artificial intelligence (AI) tools at work, far above the global average of 58%. Among them, 50% use AI regularly, either daily or weekly.
The “Global AI Trust, Attitudes and Adoption Survey (2025)”, conducted between November 2024 and January 2025, surveyed over 48,000 respondents in 47 countries. It remains one of the most comprehensive cross-border studies on AI adoption to date.
The report says that Chinese workers show higher levels of trust and acceptance toward AI technologies compared to their global peers.
According to Honson To, Chairman of KPMG Asia Pacific and China, this reflects China’s strong foundation for AI growth. He also noted that cities across China are now prioritizing safe, compliant, and trustworthy AI development, especially in large language model applications.
Chinese workers are using AI tools for a wide range of tasks: writing emails and reports, analyzing data, making presentations, and even creating images and videos. For many, AI is no longer just a tool—it’s a daily collaborator.
High Trust Meets Growing Concerns
Globally, 80% of respondents said AI helps them by automating routine tasks, offering personalized services, lowering operational costs, and reducing technical barriers. But concerns remain.
Over 70% of participants called for stronger AI regulations. Many worry about cybersecurity risks and the spread of misinformation. Around 87% (86% in China) support building international regulatory frameworks and tougher content verification systems for social media and news platforms.
China’s high adoption rate puts it at the forefront of a global AI transformation—but it also highlights the urgent need for balanced governance and ethical safeguards.
