5G-A Powers China’s Smart Cities—and Your Next Trip

China launches 5 G-A nationwide, boosting mobile speeds.

Recently, users in Beijing, Zhejiang, and other regions noticed a new signal on their phones: “5 G-A.” Many praised the speed boost. One netizen said, “It feels great—much faster!”

5 G-A, short for 5 G-Advanced or 5.5G, brings big upgrades. It improves speed, capacity, latency, and location accuracy. For users in China and tourists alike, it offers a smoother, smarter experience.

Subways, Cities, and Industries Get a Tech Boost

Beijing now boasts the world’s fastest 5 G-A subway network. On Line 3, built by Beijing Unicom, passengers can stream 4K videos, play high-speed games, and send huge files in seconds.

Across China, telecom companies are moving fast.

For example, China Mobile Group Zhejiang Co., Ltd has achieved 5 G-A network upgrades in key areas of Zhejiang Province, reaching a coverage scale of 5,000 stations. Users can experience 5 G-A networks in multiple key areas of Hangzhou and important scenes in various cities.

Moreover, China Telecom is running pilots across industries. China Unicom plans to launch 5 G-A in 39 core cities and 300 specialized zones.

These networks aren’t just for communication. They’re tools for innovation. 5 G-A powers smart factories, driverless cars, IoT devices, and more. China Mobile plans to upgrade 400,000 base stations this year with a nearly 10 billion yuan investment.

Experts say 5 G-A will shift from a simple tool to a productivity engine. It supports AI, smart manufacturing, and even the low-altitude economy.

For global travelers, this means faster, more reliable connections while exploring China—another step toward a smarter, more connected tourism experience.
