On July 25th, UNESCO added Jingdezhen’s Handmade Porcelain Heritage to the World Heritage List, recognising the city’s ceramic production system that flourished between the 10th and 19th centuries.
However, Jingdezhen is more than a place of historic kilns and ancient workshops. Today, old factory buildings house creative studios. Traditional craft lives alongside contemporary art. Local markets, pottery experiences and cultural spaces keep the city’s ceramic heritage part of everyday life rather than the past.
