China’s freestyle skier Eileen Gu won the silver medal in the women’s slopestyle final at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on February 9th, CNS reported.
Gu, who also won silver at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, competed 11th in the final. She opened with a brand-new trick never attempted in competition before, earning the highest score of the event at 86.58 points.
Her second jump ended with a mistake, giving her 23.00 points, and her third attempt also failed to improve her score, leaving her with 1.65 points. Her first run remained the best and secured the Olympic silver medal.
Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud won the gold medal in the women’s slopestyle final.
Gu said in a post-competition interview that she delivered the best slopestyle run of her life. She described the performance as a fulfilment of the spirit of competition, allowing her to continue challenging herself and pushing the limits of the sport.
