Beijing Auto Show Sets Record Scale With Global EV and Tech Focus

The 2026 Beijing Auto Show becomes the world’s largest auto exhibition, highlighting electric vehicles, AI-driven mobility, and global automotive innovation.

The 2026 Beijing Auto Show has opened as the world’s largest auto exhibition, covering 380,000 square meters.

A total of 1,451 vehicles are on display, including 181 global debuts and 71 concept cars. Automakers, suppliers, and buyers from around the world have gathered in Beijing, reflecting China’s growing influence in the global auto industry.

Technology Draws the Spotlight

At BYD’s booth, a fast-charging test attracted heavy attention. In a -30°C chamber, an electric vehicle charged from 20% to 97% in 12 minutes.

NIO presented its intelligent chassis system through a live demonstration. A vehicle moved in sync with a robot, adjusting its body in real time.

Across the show, brands rolled out a wide range of models, from compact city cars to SUVs and family MPVs. The variety points to a more segmented and consumer-focused market.

Industry Shifts Toward Integration

Beyond new models, the show signals a broader shift. Carmakers are placing greater emphasis on performance, system integration, and safety rather than adding more features.

Suppliers now share space with automakers in the main halls. New partnerships highlight closer collaboration across the supply chain. Chery is working with Bosch on a 48V architecture. Dongfeng has teamed up with Huawei on an integrated smart platform.

Companies are also pushing forward with AI-driven driving systems. Developers use virtual environments to train systems for rare and complex scenarios, aiming to improve decision-making in real-world conditions.
