Hong Kong Sends Record Delegation to 2026 Winter Olympics

Hong Kong sends a record delegation to the 2026 Milano–Cortina Winter Olympics, competing in short track speed skating and alpine skiing.

The Milano–Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games will be held from February 6th to 22nd, featuring 16 sports and around 2,900 athletes from more than 90 nations and regions. The United Kingdom will send 50 athletes, while China will have a delegation of 170. With the countdown underway, Hong Kong is finalising preparations for its largest-ever Winter Games team, a 13-member delegation.

At a flag presentation ceremony on Feb 2nd at the Hong Kong Olympic House, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China announced that four athletes will compete. Alpine skiers Adrian Yung Hau‑tsuen and Eloise King Yung‑shih will join short-track speed skaters Darren Kwok Tsz‑fung and Joey Lam Ching‑yan.

Yung will compete in the men’s slalom and giant slalom, while King will race in the women’s slalom. Kwok will contest the men’s 1,000m and 1,500m short-track events, and Lam will take part in the women’s 1,500m.

Athlete Preparations

Short track skater Darren Kwok excelled at the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, where he exchanged techniques with top athletes. He hopes these experiences will help him control race timing and perform well in Milano–Cortina.

Joey Lam is recovering from a foot injury sustained during training in South Korea three months ago. She said her condition has improved, and she has continued to train. “I hope to deliver my best result and honour the years of hard work and guidance from my coaches,” Lam said.

Alpine skier Eloise King secured her Olympic spot just one day before the qualification deadline. “At first, I could hardly believe it,” she said. King plans to continue technical and mental preparation and will arrive early to adapt to local snow conditions. “I hope to compete the way I train, stay confident, and enjoy the race,” she added.
