Nezha 2 English release is planned to land in North America on August 22nd with a dubbed version starring Michelle Yeoh.
The movie will be distributed by the American company A24 in partnership with the Chinese distributor CMC.
It will be released in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. There is no confirmation of plans to release the English dub in other territories, including the UK, yet.
The Nezha 2 English release is set to premiere on August 22nd 2025.
So far, only Michelle Yeoh has been announced as part of the voice cast. She said: “I’m honoured to be part of ‘Ne Zha 2,’ a landmark in Chinese animation and a powerful reminder of how universal our stories can be. Sharing this with audiences in English is such a joy, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the wonder, heart, spectacular artistry, and magic of this film on the big screen.”
Nezha 2 was a major success at the box office, raking in $2.2 billion. This makes it the highest-grossing movie of 2025 so far and the highest-grossing animated movie of all time. It also puts it as the 5th highest-grossing movie of all time. Coming in behind Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, and Titanic. However, the majority of this box office haul was from China. Other territories, such as Europe and North America, made up a small percentage of the box office total. The original US release in earl 2025 brought in less than $20 million. In these regions, audiences also consisted primarily of people from or with a connection to China.
CMC are hoping this English dub will be able to change that, aiming to reach a wider audience. They are planning a targeted ad campaign and have secured a wider release with over 1,000 screens in North America so far.
Nezha 2 is an animated fantasy adventure film following the story of Ne zha very loosely based on the novel Investiture of the Gods written in the 1500s by Xu Zhonglin. It follows the titular protagonist Ne zha. A demon born to human parents, as he attempts to overcome the challenges of his origin. It is a sequel to the 2019 movie Nezha.
