The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants lands in British cinemas

The Legend of the Condor Heroes sees a kung fu epic screened in the UK from February 7th. 

Spring festival may have passed, but there is still much to celebrate. The new Chinese movie The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants” will be released in cinemas across the UK on February 7th.

The film is a martial arts epic that tells the story of Guo Jing. After going through numerous tests, he finally becomes a master of martial arts. However, this success is short-lived. Facing difficulties and challenges he fights to defend the Southern Song Dynasty from the invading Genghis Khan. 

The movie is directed by Tsui Hark. It stars Xiao Zhan as hero Guo Jing and Zhuang Dafei as Huang Rong. They are joined by Zhang Wenxin, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Ada Choi. 

It has already picked up over 580 million yuan (£64 million) at the Chinese box office during the Spring Festival period. 

The Legend of the Condor Heroes is based on the book of the same name by Jin Yong. Published in the mid-20th century in Hong Kong and is one of the best-known Wuxia (martial arts) books in China.

The Legend of the Condor Heroes can be watched in 29 cities and counties across the UK including London, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Liverpool, and Edinburgh. A total of 44 Odeon and Cineworld cinemas are screening the movie. See the list below for all screening locations at the time of publishing.
