The Charm of Jiayin’s Distinctive Scenery and Vibrant Winter Culture

Jiayin County is exploring innovative cultural, sports, and tourism integration.

To comprehensively promote the development of Beautiful China, showcase the vitality of winter ice and snow tourism in Jiayin, and establish a new cultural and tourism brand for the city, the “Aura of Heaven and Earth, Dragon Vein Jiayin” image collection event was held from January 19th to 20th in Jiayin County, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. Photographers captured the enchanting winter landscapes and cultural charm of “China’s First Dragon Township,” producing evocative and captivating works of art that spread the unique beauty of this region.

Creating Unique Tourism Highlights

Jiayin County is situated in the northern Xiaoxing’an Mountains of Heilongjiang Province, serving as the “northern gateway” to Yichun, directly across the Heilong River from Russia. Known as “China’s First Dragon Township” due to the discovery of the country’s first dinosaur fossil—Heilongjiang Manchusaurus—the county boasts abundant eco-tourism resources and a rich blend of cultures. Recognized as a “national ecological demonstration zone,” Jiayin has leveraged its distinctive winter “cold resources” into “hot attractions” by creating unique tourism highlights such as “Jiejiang,” “Dinosaur,” and “Northeast of the Northeast,” infusing cultural vibrancy into Jiayin’s tourism development.

Visitors to Jiayin can enjoy thrilling giant ice and snow dinosaur slides, explore dinosaur fossil sites that unveil the story of life’s evolution, admire a picturesque Russian-style garden, and savor freshly stewed river fish. During the event, photographers explored iconic locations such as Jiayin Dinosaur National Geopark, Jiejiang Ice and Snow Dinosaur Park, Hongguang Township homestay, and Moon Bay. Their multi-angle, multi-layered perspectives beautifully captured Jiayin’s distinctive scenery and vibrant winter culture.

“This city offers a unique blend of green ecology and rich cultural heritage. Despite temperatures dropping to nearly minus 30 degrees Celsius, the winter landscapes here are breathtaking. The dinosaur-themed cultural elements scattered throughout the streets also provide outstanding visual inspiration,” shared one of the participating photographers. Many hoped their images would inspire more people to visit and experience Jiayin.

A Rich, Multidimensional Experience

China’s ice and snow tourism market is flourishing like never before. This winter, Jiayin County is embracing the theme “Ice and Snow Dragon Township, Fairy Tale Jiayin” to explore innovative cultural, sports, and tourism integration. By combining “ice and snow + sports,” “ice and snow + wellness,” and “ice and snow + homestays,” the county is offering tourists a rich, multidimensional experience. With “Russian flavor + local charm” as the core highlights, Jiayin has introduced special activities such as Russian-style performances and authentic border cuisine, providing domestic and international visitors with an unforgettable winter adventure.

The “Aura of Heaven and Earth, Dragon Vein Jiayin” image collection event is part of the “Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of Beautiful China – Jiayin in Light and Shadow” series. Hosted by the Publicity Department of the Jiayin County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Heilongjiang Branch of China News Service, the event was co-organized by CNSphotos and the Heilongjiang Branch of China News Service (Beijing) International Communication Group Co., Ltd. This event not only delivered a visual feast but also provided new opportunities and momentum for Jiayin’s all-region tourism development.
